Who is Humayun Saeed?

Humayun Saeed is a well-known Pakistani actor and producer who has enthralled Pakistani audiences with remarkable performances over the last three decades. Beginning his career as the general manager of a garment company, he quickly developed an interest in show business and, despite his parents’ objections, decided to take the leap, appearing on television with his own production, Iqraar, a television drama. However, he had to wait till 1996 to receive the accolades he deserved, winning a Best Actor Award in the same year for his debut film Ab Tum Jaa Saktey Ho.

Following that, he did not have to look back and continued to feature mostly in television programmes, including Mehndi, Doraha, Kabhi Kabhi Pyar Mein, Kaafir, Uraan, Hum Se Juda Na Hona, Ladies Park, Dillagi, Meri Zaat Zarra-e-Benishan, and others. Among his famous film roles are Inteha, Main Hoon Shahid Afridi, Jawani Phir Nahi Ani, Punjab Nahi Jaungi, Bin Roye, and others. He is also a famous producer, having created numerous popular films and television dramas, and in 2021 he will get the Pride of Performance Award for his role to the resurgence of Pakistani cinema.

Childhood and the Early Years

Humayun Saeed was born on July 27, 1971, as Humayun Saeed Ansari in Karachi, Pakistan’s Sindh province. His parents, Mohammad and Zakia Rana Saeed, were both well-educated. He is the eldest of five children, with four brothers: Salman, Amir, Adnan, and Babar.

Saeed attended Nasra School in Karachi and then transferred to St. Patrick’s College, where he received a bachelor’s degree in business likely in 1991. Although little is known about this time period, it is assumed that he was a brilliant student who received honours throughout his academic career.

He participated in a number of short plays as a college student. However, he did not pursue any acting ambitions at this time and instead began his work as a high-paying general manager of a clothing manufacturer after graduating from college.

While he was working in the garment industry, one of his actor friends introduced him to meet director Tasneem Aslam, who was seeking for a main actor at the time. Soon after, he went to an audition and was originally accepted. However, the filmmaker then altered his mind.

Career

Humayun Saeed began his acting career with the television serial Iqraar’, which he also produced. Unfortunately, it did not see the light of day until 1998. Meanwhile, he struggled on, eventually making his breakthrough in 1995 with a television series called Karooron Ka Aadmi.

His second television appearance was in the musical Ye Jahaan (1996). In the same year, he made his television film debut with Ab Tum Jaa Saktey Ho, for which he earned his first Best Actor Award. Zeher was another significant work of his during this time period.
