Why was she charged?
After cousins Hashim Ijazuddin and Saqib Hussain were murdered in an accident on the A46 in Leicestershire on February 11, 2022, Mahek Bukhari and her mother Ansreen Bukhari were charged with murder.
Natasha Akhtar, her acquaintance, was charged with the mother and daughter.
Leicester residents Raees Jamal and Rekan Karwan have also been accused with murder.
At about 1:30 a.m., Hashim and Saqib were driving on the A46 in Leicestershire.
Their silver Skoda Fabia swerved off the road and slammed through a centre reservation.
A grey Audi TT and a blue Seat Leon were noticed close, according to Leicester Magistrates Court.
All of the automobiles were travelling at high speeds, and one of them was thought to have caught fire.
Hashim and Saqib were pronounced deceased at the scene.
According to prosecutor Mohammed Zarandouz, the defendants followed the victims from Sainsbury’s on Melton Road in Leicester until their car was “driven off the road” and split in two.
During the chase, one of the victims dialled 999.
Mr. Zarandouz stated:
“Unfortunately, the caller screamed loudly, and the call was terminated.”
Hashim and Saqib had gone to meet a buddy who was “feeling down.”
Detective Chief Inspector Tony Yarwood stated:
“Anyone who was driving in the vicinity in the early hours and has dashcam evidence is urged to come forward.”
“We’re trying to put together the actions of all the automobiles involved, and any footage of them would aid our inquiry.”
A 20-year-old guy who was detained on suspicion of murder was subsequently freed and will face no further charges.
Family Members Remember the Victims
Following the fatal tragedy, family members paid respect to the cousins.
“Hashim was my favourite son, he had a wonderful spirit, and I feel privileged by Allah to have enjoyed 21 years with him,” Sikander Hayat said of his son Hashim.
“He borrowed the Skoda from his grandfather since his cousin Saqib requested a ride to Leicestershire to meet a friend.”
