Son of renowned journalist Ayaz Amir, Shahnawaz, provided a thorough account of his wife Sarah Inam Rathore’s murder.
The tragic murder case in Islamabad, where the accused Shahnawaz is accused of hitting his 3-month-old bride Sara Inam on the head with an iron object in the bedroom, is beginning to come to light.
Accused Shahnawaz told the police in his initial statement that he met Sarah on social media and that they had been married for three months when he placed his dead wife’s body in the bathtub and turned on the faucet.
The accused claimed that Sarah Inam Rathore had arrived in Islamabad from Dubai the day before. I had suspicions that Sarah Inam Rathore was having an affair, but the wife has allayed my concerns.
Accused Shahnawaz went on to say that I believed Sarah Inam Rathore was a spy for a foreign power and that she was out to get me; last night, she grabbed my throat, and this morning, she came close and grabbed my neck.
The defendant further claimed that when I grabbed Sarah’s neck, I felt as if my neck would snap and I would die. I then pushed Sarah Inam Rathore, who then allegedly fell to the ground before standing up and attacking me.
Shahnawaz claimed that she was struck in the head by an exercise dumbbell that was lying nearby. I reportedly panicked and threw Sara in the bathtub to clean up the blood.
The defendant claimed that after placing it in the bathtub, I let the water run so that the blood would flow, and that I then sent a photo of the bathtub to my father Ayaz Ameer, and called him to tell him about the incident.
Sources claim that Ayaz Amir called the senior officers of the Islamabad Police and told them about the incident.
