In the midst of a commotion, Sarah Inam, a Pakistani-Canadian who is accused of killing her husband Shahnawaz Amir last week, was buried on Wednesday in the nation’s capital.

The 37-year-old spouse was killed at the suspect’s home in Islamabad’s Chak Shahzad neighborhood using dumbbells, according to a police investigation report. The suspect is the son of renowned journalist Ayaz Amir. Currently being held in police custody on a physical remand is Shahnawaz Amir.

She wed Amir of her own free will in a private ceremony in Chakwal in July of this year, without the couple’s parents present.

His father and two brothers, who had flown in from Canada and the United States, respectively, were present for Inam’s funeral prayers.

Sarah Inam’s father claimed in a media interview that Amir forced her daughter into marriage in order to defraud her of money.

He also started crying as he recalled his daughter, describing her as “the most lovable child.” He promised to continue pursuing the criminal case against the suspect until justice was done.

He said that although “we don’t know that was coming in,” the family had intended to host a formal wedding reception for the couple in October.

Shahnawaz, the accused, was brought before the judge during the hearing, and the judge said that Shahnawaz had been sentenced to Section 302 for this crime.

“The accused has been identified, and extradition is required. The accused Shahnawaz is to be held in custody physically for ten days, it is asked of the court. According to a police officer testifying in court, the accused called him from outside and then killed his wife.
