Politicians, celebrities reacted to the committing a murder for Zahir Jaffer.

Politicians and celebrities praised Zahir Jaffer, the principal accused in the Noor Mukadam murder case, on Twitter after the court handed down the death penalty, with many expressing satisfaction that justice had been delivered.

Soon after the decision was delivered, politicians and celebrities began to express their feelings.

Mahira Khan was one of the first to respond to the news, stating that Noor Mukaddam’s justice had been served. The actress said on Twitter,

“Justice for Noor, in this world, has been served. Alhumdulillah. #NoorMuqaddam”

Osman Khalid Butt, a frequent social media user who is vocal against social stigmas in society, joined her.

“Zahir Jaffer has been sentenced to death. I know there will be an appeal; I know his parents are acquitted; I know we’re far from true justice prevailing. But after months of his charade, complete lack of remorse or guilt, there’s this: Zahir Jaffer has been sentenced to death,”

Meanwhile, Ushna Shah turned to Twitter to express her displeasure with Zahir’s parents’ acquittal in the case. She penned,

“Will celebrate justice once he hangs, which could take years. Side note: If I held someone hostage and killed them, and my middle-class mother was aware of this the entire time and aided me, she’d hang too (or at least spend her life in prison). Just saying.”

Adnan Siddiqui, adding,

“Death for the monster’s diabolical act deservedly so. My heart goes out to Noor’s family. Hope this brings an iota of peace to them.”

“Justice has prevailed,”

PML-N vice president Maryam Nawaz Sharif reacted to the court’s judgement by saying:

“The wounds Noor Mukadam’s rape and murder inflicted on the collective conscience of humanity may never heal but it is reassuring that beasts in human disguise will realise that consequences can be grave.”

Maryam Nawaz Sharif said, adding

Zahir Jaffer’s crimes were not only confined to rape & murder but the fact that he used his money and influence to assail the credibility of the victim. This perhaps is the only crime where the victim becomes the accused. Rest in peace Noor.

Jibran Nasir, a lawyer and activist, praised Noor’s family and friends for fighting for and seeking justice for her.

Also a lot was reported in media abt Zahir’s parents knowing about the murder & them passing instructions to Zahir on phone but call records only show exchange of calls not what was discussed so it would be difficult in Court to prove beyond reasonable doubt case against parents.

As expected death penalty for #ZahirJaffer and acquittal for his parents. Don’t know if Congratulations is the right word given the loss of Noor but my respect to her family & friends who fought & sought justice for her. Our society is still far from ensuing protection of women.

Zahir Jaffer was condemned to death by an Islamabad session court for the murder of Noor Mukadam. The court also found him guilty of rape and sentenced him to 25 years in jail and a Rs200,000 fine.

Mohammad Iftikhar and Mohammad Jan, Zahir’s housekeepers and co-accused in the case, were sentenced to ten years in prison, but the rest of the defendants, including Zahir’s parents and TherapyWorks workers, were acquitted.
