ISLAMABAD: The prime suspect in the Noor Mukadam case, Zahir Jaffer, has filed a plea against Islamabad Police Inspector General (IG) Ahsan Younas to “clarify the solid evidence against him,” Geo News reported on Wednesday.
In addition, Zahir’s counsel, Sikandar Zulqarnain, filed two further applications in court.
The number supplied by complainant Shaukat Mukadam should be checked, according to the second petition.
The advocate’s third application stated that the crime scene map should be rectified because “it is incorrect,” and that legal action should be taken against the investigating officer (IO).
In an interview with the media, plaintiff’s lawyer Shah Khawar stated that the “move has not impacted the prosecution’s attitude,” adding that the CCTV evidence also contradicted the suspect’s account.
There is sufficient evidence against Zahir Jaffer.
On January 25, IG Islamabad Mohammad Ahsan Younus presided over a conference about Noor Mukadam’s murder case, which determined that strong and substantial evidence had been gathered against the primary accused, Zahir Jaffer.
The forensic investigation confirmed that Noor was raped before she was murdered. It went on to say that Zahir’s flesh was discovered beneath the victim’s nails as she attempted to rescue herself.
According to the article, a Swiss army knife and a knuckle punch were also retrieved from the murder scene, which was splattered with the victim’s blood.
“These are extremely powerful pieces of forensic evidence, and the investigating team is determined to achieving justice for Noor Mukadam,” the IG stated.
In October 2021, an Islamabad court formally indicted Zahir, the key suspect in Noor Mukadam’s murder. Along with Zahoor, two of the family’s employees — Jamil and Jan Mohammad — were also charged.
Noor Mukadam, a 27-year-old woman, was assassinated on July 20 at the Kohsar police station in Islamabad’s F-7 district.
Noor’s father, former Pakistani diplomat Shaukat Ali Mukadam, later filed a murder charge at the same police station.
The Islamabad police seized suspect Zahir on the night of July 20 from his residence, where he allegedly murdered Noor with a sharp tool and severed her head, according to her parents.
