Huma Qureshi, an Indian actress, has spoken out about her collaboration with renowned Hollywood filmmaker Zack Synder, saying she wishes to collaborate on one movie overseas per year.
In 2021, Huma Qureshi will star in the big-budget zombie blockbuster ‘Army of the Dead,’ as well as the political drama series Maharani. While Huma played the lead in Maharani, she had a supporting part in Zack Snyder’s ‘Army of the Dead.’
“I’ve always wanted to collaborate with talented filmmakers.” So it doesn’t matter where they come from. I want to be a part of intriguing tales. Working with Zack Snyder was a major thing for me. I am a major fan of his work. And I intend to undertake at least one project overseas every year,” she added in an interview.
The actress will be seen in action in the Tamil film ‘Valimai,’ which is set to be released on February 24. Huma Qureshi also discussed her forthcoming psychological thriller web series Mithya. Huma plays a grey-haired instructor in the Rohan Sippy-directed film.
“Life is difficult and complex.” Because reality is so full of grey, seeing things as good-bad or right-wrong is so uninteresting as an audience. And I am overjoyed that it is now reflected in our works and stories. Every character or issue is now so complex and detailed, giving an actor so much to accomplish.”
“Previously, there were defined patterns of what to do for women.” Either you were a vamp or you were waiting to be saved. You were placed in these boxes. But I felt it was necessary to break out of those confines and produce something that was new, intriguing, and unusual,” Huma added, explaining why she ends up playing complicated characters.
Huma stated that the fun of being an actor is finding characters that challenge her. “Every time someone attempted to put me in a box, I rejected. That is not me. I’m always looking for new methods to try new things. “The hunt, since the first day of being an actress, has been to look for (new) characters and not repeat myself,” Huma remarked, adding that every time she is given a similar part or screenplay, she turns it down.
Huma attributes her success and the fact that she is headlining gigs as a solo lead to all of her hard work. “Today, when a project is built up around me, I feel proud because it is an accomplishment since I came from nowhere and now I am here.” In that way, I believe that if you keep working hard, this profession will reward you,” the actress remarked.
