UN Urges India, Pakistan to Exercise Restraint as Kashmir Tensions Intensify
The United Nations on Sunday (August 4) appealed to India and Pakistan to exercise “maximum restraint” amid escalating tensions between the two countries along the Line of Control (LoC) in the disputed Kashmir region.

“The UN Military Observer Group in India and Pakistan observed and reported an increase in military activity at the Line of Control in recent days,” the UN Secretary-General’s Spokesman, Stephane Dujarric, said in a statement e-mailed to APP UN correspondent in response to a question.“The United Nations appeals to both sides to exercise maximum restraint to ensure that the situation does not further deteriorate,” the statement added.

Kashmir Tensions Intensify, Leaders Put Under House Arrest
On the other hand a curfew has been imposed in the Indian Occupied Kashmir as tensions intensify in the region following a massive deployment of troops by the Indian government. “As per the order there shall be no movement of public and all educational institutions shall also remain closed,” a statement by the government of Jammu and Kashmir, which is currently under the central rule, said on Sunday night. The order said the indefinite security restrictions will be applicable in the main district of Srinagar.

Pakistan Will Support Kashmiris, Warns India Against Any Misadventure
Prime Minister Imran Khan said on Sunday (August 4) said that Pakistan will effectively respond to any type of aggression or provocation from India with its people’s support. PM Imran had convened a meeting of the NSC to discuss issues pertaining to the national security in the wake of cluster bomb attack carried out by India against civilians in Neelum Valley.
