General Asim Munir, the 17th Chief of Army Staff, will assume command of the Pakistani Army during a ceremony today at General Headquarters in Rawalpindi.
In a ceremony scheduled for today at General Headquarters, the departing Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa will transfer command to the recently appointed Army Chief General Asim Munir.
The previous day, President Arif Alvi and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had separate farewell meetings with the departing Army Chief General Bajwa.
The army chief thanked the prime minister after the prime minister sent Gen. Bajwa his best wishes. Additionally, PM Shehbaz hosted a luncheon in the departing top general’s honor.
The President praised General Qamar Javed Bajwa’s contributions to the defense industry. He recognized the contributions made by the departing Army Chief to the nation and the Pakistan Army.
The President sent General Qamar Javed Bajwa his best wishes for success in his future endeavors.
Gen. Bajwa is scheduled to leave his position as commander of the Pakistan Army on November 29.
