The Spanish police entered the Barcelona Stadium on Monday in a search and exploitation operation.
According to media reports, the operation was related to the “barça-gate” last year, in which club officials were accused of launching a campaign against the current and previous players who were critical with the Club and then President Bartomeu al supposedly hiring a Social Media Company to publicly discredit them.
The media reports said that former president Josep Maria Bartomeu is among those who have been arrested during the operation.
Among the arrested are also included, the current Executive Director òscar Grau, and the Head of Legal Services of Barcelona, Roman Gómez Pontí on the suspicion of “unfair administration, corruption between individuals and money laundering.
Bartomeu and the Board of Directors renounced last year in the midst of the controversy surrounding Lionel Messi.
The club has been hampered in political turbulence and debt driven by Coronavirus’s novel Pandemic. The operation reaches less than a week before the presidential elections are held at the club.
