National Assembly speaker adjourned the joint parliament session after opposition parties started protest over arrest of ML-N Leader Maryam Nawaz.
PML-N leaders and supporters, including Marriyum Aurangzeb and Ahsan Iqbal, are protesting the development outside the National Assembly. Before the assembly session was adjourned due to PML-N’s protest, Pakistan People Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari condemned Maryam’s arrest in a strongly-worded speech on the floor of the house. A resolution has also been submitted in the Punjab Assembly against Maryam’s arrest.
The National Accountability Court (NAB) has arrested Vice President Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) in Chaudhry Sugar Mills case. NAB has summoned Maryam Nawaz Sharif on Thursday(August 8) in connection with to a corruption probe involving Chaudhry Sugar Mills. She was taken custody from outside the Kot Lakhpat Jail.

Yousaf Abbas, a cousin of Maryam Nawaz Sharif has also been detained by NAB. Daughter of ex-premier Nawaz Sharif has reached the Kot Lakhpat Jail on routine day of Thursday of the meeting with his father Nawaz Sharif where the NAB took her into custody.
