The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) seeks the approval of federal government for up to 47 per cent increase in the prices of gas for the fiscal year 2019-2020, said a spokesman of the regulator. The spokesman said OGRA has recommended an average of 47 per cent hike in SNGPL system and 28 per cent in SSGC system.
The spokesman said Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) had requested the regulator for 144 per cent hike in gas price, whereas Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) sought 30 per cent increase.
Earlier the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) approved an increase in prices of petroleum products by as much as Rs. 9 per litre for the month of May. With the increase, of petroleum products by Rs. 9 per litre, the price of petrol is stand at Rs. 108. The government has also increased the diesel price by Rs. 4.89 per litre, light diesel by Rs. 6.40 and kerosene by Rs. 7.46.
