A lone thief looted a mobile phone shop on Tuesday at the Aman Tower in Saddar. Saddar SP, Amjad Hayat and SHO Liaqaut Hayat, said the suspect entered the Aman Tower on Saturday night and broke the locks of the store. He left the mall on Monday around 10:30 in the morning. Police confirmed that the thief had taken 111 Android phones worth around Rs4.5 million.
The suspect stayed in the mall for nearly 35 hours. He had blackened all the surveillance cameras with spray paint when he entered the mall. The incident occurred in the jurisdiction of the Preedy police station and a case was recorded after CCTV images were acquired from the mall cameras, in addition to other evidence. The suspect had come with food like roasted chickpeas.
In expressing their shock, police said there was a guard at each of the four entrances to the mall at the time of the robbery, but the guards did not know about the thief’s activity. police said the suspect could be seen in the CCTV images, spraying the cameras while his face was covered with scarves. The police are trying to acquire more video images, case has been registered.
