The two men who last week harassed South Korean YouTuber and vlogger Hyojeong Park while he was live-streaming in the Mumbai suburb of Khar were granted bail by an Indian court.
The duo was given bail on Tuesday by the Bandra Metropolitan Court on a cash bond of Rs. 15,000 each, according to the accused’s attorney, Zamir Khan. Additionally, the two suspects were instructed to assist in the police investigation.
Mobeen Chand Mohd Shaikh, age 19, and Mohd Naqib Sadarialam Ansari, age 21, were the perpetrators and were “booked under section 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) of the Indian Penal Code.”
Last week, Hyojeong Park, a well-known South Korean YouTuber who goes by the username “Mhyochi,” was wandering the streets of Mumbai. One of the accused approached her too closely and interacted with her inappro*priately while she was live streaming with her followers. Despite her protests, she was able to maintain her composure and good manners when two men attempted to hold her hand.
The two suspects offered to drive her away as she walked away from them and followed her. Fortunately, two men who were watching her live stream, Aditya and Atharva, intervened to help calm things down.
Later, Mhyochi uploaded the incident’s video to her YouTube channel. The incident was reported to the police after it gained widespread attention on social media. The two were later apprehended by Mumbai police from the nearby Bandra neighborhood after the Korean vlogger filed an FIR against them.
