Kate Middleton did not let the opportunity to honour Princess Diana pass during her wedding to Prince William.
The Duchess attached a blue ribbon to her dress for good luck. In a similar fashion the late princess too had sewn a blue ribbon to her wedding gown which she wore to her 1981 marriage to Prince Charles.
Prince William also honoured his mother by including members from charities that she sponsored throughout her life on his wedding guest list.
Kate was particular about the style of her gown.
The corseted Alexander McQueen gown featured lace, tulle, and embroidery and was influenced by Victorian fashion.
Roses, thistles, and shamrocks were used in the thread work to represent England, Scotland, and Ireland, respectively.
