At least eight passengers were burnt alive and four others sustained burned Injuries when a van caught fire at the Grand Trre ank (GT) Road near Tarkai Toll Plaza in Jhelum on Sunday (May 5) . As per initial details, the passenger van carrying Sixteen people, was traveling from Lahore to Rawalpindi and caught fire after a short circuit in the van.
Rescue teams reached the spot and brought the fire under control and shifted the injured to District Headquarters Hospital, Jhelum. Traffic remained suspended at the GT road after the accident which created problems for other people.
Federal Minister for Science & Technology Fawad Chaudhry said the local administration was fully assisting the victims; nevertheless, there was no alternative for life.
