Prime Minister Imran Khan has taken notice of current disproportionate price hike and ineffectiveness of the systems to control it. In a letter, the Prime Minister Office has directed provincial chief secretaries, including chief secretary Islamabad, to launch a special campaign to control price hike in the country.
Under the campaign, a strategy will be devised by all concerned stakeholders to implement price control laws effectively from the wholesale markets to retail shops. Market Control Committees will be made more effective to take stern actions against the perpetrators under law.
The letter further said providing relief to the people was the field administration’s basic responsibility, yet a lack of shared linkages between related officials was creating problems for the public.PM Khan advised that a plan of action should promptly be made for effective implementation of the laws pertaining to keeping inflation in control.
Khan also directed the related institutions to take action against elements jacking up prices without any reason and those who hoard in order to pump up demand, thereby further fueling inflation.
