Former interior minister and veteran politician Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan felt cheated and still reluctant to take oath as member Punjab Assembly. The veteran politician confirmed meeting with former Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi who came to convinced him to take oath as member Punjab Assembly. But Ch Nisar Ali Khan refused to entertain his request as he has been cheated on the national assembly seat. The current national assembly is the first one since 1985 in which Ch Nisar is not part. He won 8 national assembly elections from his home constituency in a row before losing the July 2018 elections. He is only politician in Pakistan who won 8 consecutive national assembly elections from a constituency.

He seems unhappy with establishment on his defeat. That is why he did not take oath as MPA. So he felt cheated. It seems that he wants to wait bit longer before deciding his future course of political action. He is not in a haste or hurry to make decision. Ch Nisar Ali Khan is considered closer to establishment and known as pro-establishment politician. His father and brothers served in the Pakistan Army at highest levels.

Many people were surprised when he lost election. So he is still showing his disappointment to the concerned quarters. It is still not clear whether he will change his mind or stick to his current position. Last week, the news stories made headlines that Ch Nisar Ali Khan might take oath as member Punjab assembly during the week. The mainstream media ran stories of his bid for Chief Minister Punjab in place of current chief minister Sardar Usman Buzdar.

Ch Nisar is either confirming or refusing the reports claiming that he is being considered by power circles for the next Punjab Chief Minister. He told the reporters in Lodhran when asked about becoming CM Punjab “Questions should be asked from those who have spread the news,” the disgruntled Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz leader said in a private ceremony at Lodhran. “I do politics to help people not to get any post. My politics is not for sale.”

He also told the reporters that there will be massive inflation in coming months and warned that it would be unbearable for the masses. “PM Imran took record loans in the previous months. He did the same what he used to criticise before.”

The veteran politician said that the current government will not risk holding local bodies’ poll as they have attempted to scrap administrative units and have completely abandoned District Council office. “If PTI claims it to be a popular political party it should hold local bodies’ poll.”
