KP Govt. Seeks Polls Extension in Merged Areas
The provincial government has argued in the letter that the elections in Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA), which were planned on July 2, should be postponed for 20 days due to possibility of attacks on political leadership. Citing the ‘unwarranted situation’, the letter quoted cross-border skirmishes including the recent terror attacks in North Waziristan, thereby seeking an extension under a constitutional provision of 25 days.
