‘Daesh’ Claims Responsibility for Sri Lanka Attacks

Daesh has claimed responsibility for coordinated bombings in Sri Lanka which killed 359 people and injured about 500 others, the group’s AMAQ news agency said on Tuesday (April 23).

The claim said: “The perpetrators of the attack that targeted nationals of the countries of the coalitions and Christians in Sri Lanka before yesterday are fighters from Daesh.” It offered no photographs or videos of attackers pledging their loyalty to the group.

Sri Lanka President Maithripala Sirisena has announced to change the heads of country’s defense forces following their failure to prevent Easter bombings despite prior information. During a televised address to the nation, President Sirisena said he will change the defense establishments within next 24 hours. Sri Lankan Presidnet also vowed to completely restructure the police and security forces in the coming weeks.
