The session had been halted for two hours earlier because the Opposition held a consultative meeting in the chamber of Leader of the Opposition Shahbaz Sharif to discuss a counter-strategy to the government’s alleged plan to prolong it.

The Imran Khan-led government had filed a review petition in the Supreme Court earlier in the day, challenging the court’s decision to declare the deputy speaker’s decision to dismiss the no-confidence motion against the prime minister as unconstitutional.
