Agneepath Scheme: What Is It? Explained

Our government regularly rolls out new initiatives that benefit the populace in different ways. A new scheme is making headlines right now. The Agneepath Scheme was announced by the Indian government, and application procedures are still being completed. On June 14, the Union Cabinet approved a recruitment plan for Indian youth to join the armed forces. The programme is known as AGNEEPATH, and the young people chosen for it are known as Agniveers. This programme enlists motivated and nationalistic young people to serve four years in the armed forces.

Agneepath Scheme: What Is It?

The AGNEEPATH scheme has given the Armed Forces a youthful appearance in terms of government. By attracting young talent from the community who are more in tune with modern technological ways and cultivating back skilled, trained, and prompt manpower into the society, this programme will give youth the opportunity to don the uniform. While time brings about a changeable shift towards a more tech-savvy Armed Forces, which is important and the need of the hour, it will increase the youthful profile of the Armed Forces and give “Josh” and “Jazba” a new lease on life.

The scheme was exposed because more money was going toward salaries and pensions than toward crucial military upgrades. Under the programme, young people between the ages of 17.5 and 21 will be admitted directly from educational initiation or through enlist recruiting rallies. Through a contract, they will be hired for the position. They will serve for four years and complete a six-month intensive training programme. Additionally, only 25% of the most productive and motivated army personnel will agree to a 15-year extension after serving for 4 years. These soldiers will be referred to as Agniveers. Through the new system, the government intends to enlist about 40,000 soldiers. The government will treat those who join well. Along with a fantastic income, it was reported to have earned around 40,000 per month over the course of four years of service. For those who are patriotic and want to carry out their country’s duties, this is the best option. This is part of the government’s AGNIPATH plan.

  1. Candidate age: Youth aged 17.5 to 21 years old
  2. Agneepath Scheme salary: approximately 30,000 to 40,000INR.
  3. AGNIPATH scheme of service: period of 4 years

Noted:

Only 25% of the army staff who are the most dedicated and productive will agree to a 15-year extension after serving for 4 years.
