Over 50 Nations Supported Pakistan’s Stance On Kashmir Dispute

Pakistan has drawn urgent attention of the Human Rights Council and human rights mechanisms towards worsening human rights and humanitarian situation in Indian occupied Jammu and Kashmir, especially following the decisions taken on fifth of last month.

A joint statement delivered at the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva on Tuesday (Sep 10) by Pakistan on behalf of over 50 countries from across various regions says it shares the concern expressed by the High Commissioner for Human Rights Michelle Bachelet regarding the impact of recent actions on the human rights of Kashmiris.

UN Human Rights Chief Voices Serious Concerns Over Kashmir Situation
Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi took to twitter and said, ‘Today at #HRC42 we presented the real story of Indian Occupied Jammu /Kashmir that India is desperate to hide from all. For the last 6 weeks over 8M Kashmiris have been caged by illegal occupation nearing 1M troops. India has transformed IOJK into the largest prison in the world’.

“With respect to the Genocide Convention, the Kashmiri people in the occupied territory – as a national, ethnic, racial and religious group of people – face grave threats to their lives, way of living and livelihoods; from a murderous, misogynistic, and xenophobic regime”, he said in another tweet.

“India’s unilateral action altering status of Occupied Jammu&Kashmir, recognized as disputed territory by UN Security Council, is illegal under Intl law. Naked foreign occupation contravening Geneva Convention. Assertion these actions are ‘internal affair’ patently false”, he added.

“Pakistan today also announces the delivery of a historic joint statement on behalf of over 50 countries to the UN Human Rights Council. For this, we asked that the Council immediately take the following steps”.
