The Islampura police on Tuesday lodged a case against more than150 workers and leaders of the PML-N over clash with the police. According to the FIR, the case was registered against as many as 150 workers of the party including Uzma Bukhari, Tauseef Shah and others.
A large number of party workers and supporters led by PML-N leaders Sardar Naseem, Malik Shakeel Awan, Marriyum Aurangzeb and Sajjad Khan gathered at Committee Chowk after Friday prayer and staged the demonstration. The protest led to traffic jam on Murree Road, causing inconvenience to commuters and pedestrians. The participants chanted slogans against Prime Minister Imran Khan and his cabinet and in support of PML-N vice president Maryam Nawaz.
The FIR lodged for torturing police personnel, blocking the road and damaging government property. Earlier, an accountability court on Friday granted the National Accountability Bureau a 12-day physical remand of PML-N Vice-President Maryam Nawaz in the Chaudhry Sugar Mills case.
